Leadership Vote Process

July 28, 2017

Dear Members and Supporters,

As you know by now, the leader of our party has resigned. I know you will agree with me that Christy Clark will be recognized as a truly transformational premier who leaves British Columbia better, stronger, and with greater potential than ever before.

As I have seen firsthand over the years, she has been fierce, tireless, and immensely generous in building one of the strongest provincial political parties in the country – and deserves our lasting appreciation and gratitude.

According to Section 10.3 of the BC Liberal Party Constitution, it is now my responsibility to call a meeting of the Party Executive within 28 days to set a date for and plan for a Leadership Vote.

Section 10.4 of the Constitution specifies that:

A Leadership Vote is a vote of all Members to elect a new Leader, with each Member being entitled to only one vote, and with the votes weighted such that each Riding Association will have the same percentage of votes in electing the new Leader.

All other specifics of this leadership selection process must be determined by the Party Executive, and will be shared with members and the public in the coming weeks.

Thank you, as always, for your support of our party.

Sincerely,

Sharon White, Q.C.
President
